Overview
A mode controls how the remote operates.
A profile controls what button presses send while you are using profile-based performing behavior. That means changing the mode is not the same thing as changing the profile.
Most performers spend most of their time in Basic mode, then switch modes only when a specific app, workflow, or setup calls for it.
Modes at a glance
Section titled “Modes at a glance”| Mode | Use it for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Normal profile-based performing | Use this for everyday profile work. If you are choosing Numeric, Playing Cards, Go Button, or another profile, you usually want Basic mode. |
| NexusOS | NexusOS-specific behavior | Use this when a NexusOS workflow or app asks for NexusOS mode. |
| Watch | Watch-focused workflows | Use this when driving a supported watch workflow instead of a phone-focused workflow. |
| Keypad Direct | Direct keypad-style input | Use this when you need direct keypad input instead of profile-based behavior. |
Active vs default
Section titled “Active vs default”The active mode is the mode your remote is using right now. The default mode is the mode your remote starts with when you power it on.
To change either one, see Management.
Modes and profiles
Section titled “Modes and profiles”Modes and profiles work at different levels:
- Change the mode when you need the remote to work in a different way.
- Change the profile when you are in Basic mode and need your button presses to send different information into an app.
For profile-based performing, see What Profiles Are.
