Privacy Policy
Last updated June 25, 2026
This policy explains what information the Nexus Remote app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep what we collect to what the product needs to work, and we never sell it.
Two things share the Nexus Remote name. The Nexus Remote is the Bluetooth hardware device you perform with, and the Nexus Remote app is the iOS application that pairs with it. The device is a Bluetooth accessory: it has no account and does not collect personal information on its own. The information described below is collected through the app and the online services behind it.
The Nexus Remote app and these services are operated by Matt Wilson (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the app, the website atnexusremote.info, and the services that support the Nexus Remote device. By using the app or the website, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name, and we record whether your email has been verified. Your sign-in credentials are handled by our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication); we do not store your password ourselves.
Content You Create
The app lets you build profiles, Switchboard sequences, button mappings, labels, and other configurations. When you choose to back up or sync this content, we store it so it is available to you across sessions and devices. This content is yours, and you can delete it.
Device and Connection Data
To keep the app working and connected, we process basic technical information such as your online or offline status, the app version and your remote’s firmware version, your iPhone model and iOS version, and diagnostic or log data used to troubleshoot problems.
Usage and Analytics Data
We use Google’s app measurement tools to understand how the app is used in aggregate, for example which features are opened and whether the app is running reliably. This helps us find and fix issues and decide what to improve.
Licensing and Purchases
We keep records of your license and entitlements so we can confirm access to paid features. Purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy; we do not receive your full payment details.
Information That Stays on Your iPhone
Some things never leave your iPhone. Face ID and other biometrics are handled by iOS and are never shared with us. Any passcode you set to protect the app, and the Bluetooth pairing between your iPhone and the Nexus Remote device, stay on your iPhone.
How We Use Information
- To create and maintain your account and verify your email.
- To store, sync, and restore the profiles and configurations you choose to back up.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app, the Nexus Remote device, and the website.
- To protect the service against fraud and abuse, including device attestation through Firebase App Check.
- To diagnose problems and provide support when you contact us.
- To send you important service messages, such as account or security notices.
Service Providers
We rely on trusted providers to run the service, and they process information only on our behalf:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, cloud functions, app measurement, and abuse protection (App Check). Google’s handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple — app distribution and any in-app purchases, governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
- With the service providers above, so they can operate the service for us.
- When required by law, or to respond to a valid legal request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
- In connection with a sale, merger, or transfer of the business, in which case we will require that your information remain protected under this policy.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and backed-up content for as long as your account is active. When you delete content, or ask us to delete your account, we remove the associated personal information, except where we are required to keep it to meet a legal obligation.
Your Choices and Rights
You can review and update your account details inside the app, and you can delete the content you have created. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask a question about your data, email us atmatt@mswilson.net. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
Children’s Privacy
The Nexus Remote app is a tool for performers and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and the app supports on-device protections such as Face ID and a passcode. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where Your Information Is Processed
We operate from the United States, and the information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and handled here.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be communicated through the app or the website.
